Iran’s Khorasan Razavi Governor Calls to Double Exports to Afghanistan

DID Press: Gholamhussain Mozaffari, governor of Khorasan Razavi, emphasized that Iran must seize the opportunity to expand its exports to Afghanistan, amid the closure of Pakistan’s borders with Afghanistan.

Referring to the blockages at the Torkham and Chaman crossings by Pakistan, Mozaffari said that Iran’s trade should be doubled with Afghanistan. He added that, to strengthen regional commercial ties, he recently traveled to Herat province and capital Kabul.

Mozaffari further highlighted that the province’s main policy is to import only goods that cannot be produced in Afghanistan, promoting direct trade between the two countries.

These remarks come as Pakistan has closed its trade routes following border clashes with the Taliban, allowing only limited humanitarian shipments, prompting Afghanistan to increase economic engagement with Iran and Central Asia.
