Taliban Interior Minister, Kazakh Envoy Discuss Boosting Trade, Security

DID Press: Sirajuddin Haqqani, Interior Minister of the Taliban government, met with Yerkin Tokumov, Special Representative of the President of Kazakhstan for Afghanistan, to discuss strengthening bilateral economic and security ties.

Haqqani commended Kazakhstan’s efforts to engage with Afghanistan, describing relations between the two countries as constructive. He emphasized that Afghanistan is advancing on the path of peace, trade, and development, and expressed hope that Kazakhstan would continue its regional cooperation and goodwill.

Tokumov highlighted Kazakhstan’s commitment to expanding trade and economic collaboration with Afghanistan. He stressed the importance of strategic projects, including the development of a railway linking Afghanistan and Kazakhstan, and assured continued cooperation on border security, counter-narcotics initiatives, and infrastructure development through Turkmenistan.

The meeting underscores ongoing regional diplomatic engagement aimed at promoting economic connectivity and stability in Afghanistan.
