Afghanistan Turned into Safe Haven for Terrorists, Warns Pakistan
DID Press: Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN warned that nearly 6,000 fighters of Tehrik‑i‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are operating from Afghan territory, describing Afghanistan as a safe haven for terrorists and a serious threat to regional security.

Speaking on Wednesday, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad emphasized that Pakistan expects the Taliban government to take action against these insurgents. “If they fail to act, Pakistan will take the necessary measures,” he said.
Ahmad cited a recent UN report confirming the presence and operations of TTP fighters within Afghanistan, and called on the international community to address the situation urgently. He warned that worsening security in Afghanistan directly affects regional stability, and eliminating terrorist safe havens is essential for the security of neighboring countries.
He also praised the sacrifices of Pakistani security forces and civilians in countering infiltration and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to securing its borders. Ahmad further mentioned the return of Afghan refugees and stressed that improving the situation requires coordinated international cooperation.
Recent border tensions, disputes over the Durand Line, and failed peace negotiations between the Taliban and Pakistan in Qatar, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia have resulted in the closure of trade crossings. The Taliban government, however, has rejected Pakistan’s concerns, affirming that Afghan territory will not be used against any country.
