Humanitarian Crisis Worsens in Gaza as Heavy Rains Kill at Least 14

DID Press: At least 14 Palestinians, including several children, have died following severe storms and continuous rainfall across the Gaza Strip, Al Jazeera reported.

According to the report, families displaced by Israel’s ongoing war—many of whom had already lost their homes—are now struggling without adequate shelter or basic necessities while facing harsh cold, strong winds, and relentless rain.

Local sources said that more than 22,000 displacement tents were destroyed by the recent downpours. Ismail Al-Thawabta, Director of Gaza’s Government Media Office, warned that the humanitarian situation is rapidly deteriorating.

“Dozens of thousands of tents have been damaged due to continuous rainfall and the lack of basic infrastructure. Protective coverings have been washed away,” he said.

Al-Thawabta added that approximately 1.5 million displaced Palestinians are currently living in worn-out and damaged tents under extremely harsh conditions, further deepening Gaza’s humanitarian crisis.
