DID Press: North Korea held an official ceremony in Pyongyang to welcome back Unit 528 of the Korean People’s Army, which had been deployed to Russia for military engineering operations. Leader Kim Jong-un attended the event and delivered remarks.
Kim said that the unit had been formed under directives from the Central Committee’s Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea, with the aim of strengthening “overseas military operation victories” as of May 28 this year.
According to Kim, the first contingent was deployed to Russia’s Kursk region in early August and successfully completed all assigned engineering and operational tasks.
The ceremony highlighted Pyongyang’s efforts to showcase the role of overseas-deployed forces and to honor the soldiers’ achievements.
