US Releases Thousands of Jeffrey Epstein Case Documents

DID Press: US Department of Justice has started releasing thousands of previously confidential documents related to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a move coinciding with Democratic criticism over the “gradual release and potential whitewashing” of sensitive materials.

The documents, long-awaited due to Epstein’s connections with prominent political and cultural figures—including President Donald Trump—contain new images and records, some featuring former President Bill Clinton, musician Mick Jagger, and pop star Michael Jackson. Officials emphasized that the documents do not imply wrongdoing by the individuals depicted, and portions of the files have been redacted to protect victims’ identities and ongoing investigations.

Under a law passed in Congress last month, the government is required to make the files publicly available, though Democrats have accused authorities of staggered release in an attempt to obscure critical details. The documents include interviews with victims and witnesses as well as items seized from Epstein’s properties, and full publication is expected to occur gradually over the coming weeks.

Epstein, who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, had previously reached a controversial plea agreement in 2008, following allegations involving a 14-year-old girl in Florida, which allowed him to avoid a lengthy prison sentence.
