Iran to Ease Visa Issuance for Afghan Nationals

DID Press: Iran’s deputy head of mission in Kabul announced plans to simplify and facilitate the issuance of Iranian visas for Afghan citizens, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

According to a statement released by Herat Governor’s Office, Sayed Hossain Mortazavi, Iran’s deputy ambassador, made the remarks during a meeting with Islam Jar, the governor of Herat province. Mortazavi said Iran is committed to expanding and consolidating ties with Afghanistan and will take practical steps to streamline the visa application process. He added that easing visa procedures could improve cross-border travel and help expand economic and social cooperation between the two neighbors.

During the same meeting, Alireza Marhamati, Iran’s consul general in Herat, addressed concerns related to Afghan migrants, saying that some issues—particularly recent incidents along the Iran–Afghanistan border—have been referred to Iran’s judicial authorities for comprehensive review.

Islam Jar, the governor of Herat, emphasized the need for timely attention to the problems faced by Afghan migrants and called for greater cooperation from relevant Iranian institutions in facilitating visa issuance. He said that the Taliban-led government seeks stable and constructive relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and considers the facilitation of visas, along with the expansion of trade and transit, to be important and mutually beneficial for both countries.
