Heavy Russian Strikes Hit Kyiv ahead of Zelensky-Trump Meeting

DID Press: Ukrainian capital targeted by a wave of Russian missile attacks early Saturday, coinciding with active air defenses and multiple explosions, just hours before a scheduled meeting between the US and Ukraine presidents.

According to Reuters, Kyiv experienced several explosions Saturday morning, with air defense systems deployed extensively across the city. The Ukrainian military confirmed missiles were fired toward the capital. Reuters journalists and unofficial Telegram channels reported explosions in various parts of the city.

The attack comes ahead of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s planned visit to the US on Sunday to meet with President Donald Trump, where discussions are expected to focus on potential options to end the nearly four-year conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Ukrainian authorities have not yet provided details on casualties or the extent of damage.
