2008 Bush–Putin Conversation on Iran Revealed

DID Press: The release of a previously undisclosed conversation from 2008 between the then presidents of the United States and Russia has shed new light on Washington’s and Moscow’s views on global politics and Iran’s position on the world stage.

A Russian news website has published the text of a conversation between George W. Bush and Vladimir Putin dating back to 2008. According to the report, the two leaders discussed U.S. domestic politics as well as major international developments.

During the exchange, Putin outlined his intellectual perspective on political currents in the United States and expressed positions broadly aligned with the Republican Party.

A significant portion of the conversation focused on Iran, with both sides agreeing that the country should not be underestimated. They noted that Iran was neither a product of mere rhetoric nor a state weakened by pressure. Instead, they argued that sanctions, rather than undermining Iran, had made the country more resilient and seasoned.
