Protests Erupt again in Tbilisi as Opposition Rallies against Government

DID Press: Tbilisi once again became the scene of large anti-government demonstrations on Saturday night, as opposition parties called their supporters back to the streets. According to Russian-language media reports, protesters gathered in central Tbilisi and marched toward the parliament building.

The demonstrations began near a concert hall and soon turned into a march, with participants carrying Georgian and European Union flags while chanting slogans against the ruling authorities and expressing discontent with the current political situation.

In response, Shalva Papuashvili, the speaker of Georgia’s parliament, criticized European leaders, saying they had become detached from the will of their nations and should “wake up from their sleep.” Defending the record of the ruling Georgian Dream party, he insisted its policies in recent years have been prudent and appropriate.
