Taliban Warn Saudi Restrictions on Afghan Pilgrims May Strain Ties
DID Press: Taliban-led Ministry of Justice warned that restrictions and challenges faced by Afghan pilgrims in Saudi Arabia may negatively affect relations between Kabul and Riyadh.

The issue was discussed Monday during a meeting attended by Abdul Hakim Sharaei, acting minister of justice, Taliban officials, and representatives from Hajj and Umrah service providers.
According to Taliban, some problems encountered by Afghan pilgrims stem from restrictive measures and unfair treatment by Saudi authorities, disrupting their return after completing Hajj rituals.
The ministry emphasized that despite Saudi Arabia’s prominent role in the Muslim world, it has failed to provide adequate conditions for Afghan pilgrims. Officials cautioned that continuation of such policies could impact bilateral relations and called for more responsible treatment.
The ministry also noted that increased migration from Afghanistan following the Taliban’s return to power, coupled with stricter measures in countries like Saudi Arabia, has intensified challenges for Afghan pilgrims.
