Taliban Reshuffle Provincial Governors and Security Chiefs

DID Press: Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada ordered a series of wide-ranging changes across provincial administrations and security structures in Afghanistan, replacing and rotating governors and security commanders in an effort to strengthen governance and internal control.

According to the decree, Qari Gul Haidar Shafaq, former governor of Jawzjan, has been appointed governor of Bamyan province, while Abdullah Sarhadi, who previously headed Bamyan, has been transferred to Jawzjan.

Ahmad Shah Dindost, former commander of the 205 Al-Badr Corps, has been named governor of Sar-e Pul, and Hafiz Anzargul Abdullah, formerly chief of staff of the 201 Khalid bin Walid Corps, has been appointed deputy governor of Laghman province.

Ghulam Rahman Haidari, previously responsible for anti-corruption oversight in the Administrative Affairs Office, has been appointed deputy governor of Nangarhar province. In the security sector, Makhdoom Abdul Khabir, former commander of the Sar-e Pul brigade, has become police chief of Samangan, while Mohammad Ismail Faiz, former intelligence chief of Kunduz, has been assigned as police chief of Laghman.

In Kandahar, Mullah Abdullah, former district chief of Upper Maiwand, has been named police commissioner of Spin Boldak, and Hafiz Sayed Mohammad Waris, former commander of the Kandahar Support Corps, has been appointed district governor of Upper Maiwand.

Additionally, Ahmadullah Salem has been promoted from commander of Kandahar’s 8th security district to commander of the Kandahar Support Corps, consolidating the Taliban’s command structure in the region.
