Flights Halted at Aden Airport amid Rising UAE-Saudi Tensions

DID Press: Flights from Yemen’s Aden International Airport were suspended on Thursday due to escalating tensions between the Saudi-backed government and the Southern Transitional Council (STC). Details on when services will resume remain unclear.

The STC, part of the Saudi-led coalition against the Houthis, has been pushing for an independent state in southern Yemen and expanded military operations in Hadramawt and Al-Mahrah governorates since December. Saudi Arabia has accused the UAE of providing arms and encouraging the STC’s activities, a claim the UAE denies, emphasizing its support for Saudi security.

Despite the UAE withdrawing forces from Yemen, the STC has refused to leave Hadramawt and Al-Mahrah, raising regional security concerns.
