Taliban: Afghanistan Moving Toward Economic Self-Reliance, Lasting Stability

DID Press: Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for Taliban government, said Afghanistan is on a path toward lasting security, economic self-reliance and comprehensive stability, adding that the country now has the capacity to fully defend its territory through reliance on its own internal resources.

Mujahid said that Afghanistan is “advancing with measured and confident steps” toward sustainable security and economic development, noting that security and administrative structures have been strengthened compared with the past and that reconstruction and economic projects are progressing at a faster pace.

Reflecting on previous years, he said the Taliban had not requested assistance from any country over the past two decades and that Afghans fought across the country based on their own determination and capabilities. According to Mujahid, this reliance on internal capacity has enabled Afghanistan to manage security affairs and defend its soil independently.

Addressing relations with Pakistan, Mujahid said the “core problem” between the two countries is the issue of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which he argued requires a serious approach and genuine cooperation from Islamabad.

He also referred to Afghanistan’s broader regional engagement, saying Kabul seeks constructive interaction with neighboring and regional states and aims to expand economic and security cooperation on the basis of mutual interests.
