Pakistan Foils Major Attacks, Seizes 2 Tons of Explosives in Karachi
DID Press: Pakistani security forces seized approximately two tons of explosives from a cargo truck in Karachi’s Rais Goth area, authorities said, thwarting a planned series of attacks across the city’s key locations.

Pakistani officials said the explosives were being transported for coordinated attacks in sensitive areas of Karachi. The operation targeted the separatist militant group, Baloch Liberation Army, and investigations into the route and ultimate target of the shipment are ongoing.
Authorities emphasized that following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, militant activity and attacks in Pakistan have increased.
Earlier reports from the Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies indicated a 34 percent rise in terrorist attacks in 2025. Since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021, insecurity and terrorism in Pakistan have been on an upward trajectory, with approximately 700 terrorist incidents recorded in 2025 alone, resulting in at least 1,034 deaths and hundreds of injuries.
