DABS Says It Has Settled All Past Debts
DID Press: Afghanistan’s national power utility, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), says it has settled all outstanding debts inherited from the former government.

Abdul Bari Omar, the company’s chief executive, said the liabilities — valued in the millions of dollars — were fully repaid over the past three years. He noted that DABS assumed responsibility for the debts at a time when the country’s electricity infrastructure was facing severe shortages and operational challenges.
Alongside the repayments, DABS has launched reconstruction and network-improvement projects across the country, allocating nearly five billion afghanis to upgrade facilities and expand access.
Company officials said improving infrastructure and reducing electricity disruptions in various provinces remain key priorities in the near term.
