Afghanistan Saffron Wins Global Superior Taste Award Again
DID Press: Herat saffron has once again been named the world’s best in an international competition organized by the International Taste Institute, underscoring Afghanistan’s growing profile in premium food products.

The award, announced during the institute’s annual evaluations in Brussels, recognized Afghan saffron for its distinctive aroma, color, and flavor. It is the second consecutive year that saffron from Herat has received the institute’s top distinction.
Considered one of the most prestigious honors in the food industry, the award is based on blind tasting and assessment by culinary experts from around the world. Judges evaluate products across multiple criteria, including fragrance, taste, and visual quality.
Afghan producers and farmers — many of whom have adopted improved cultivation and processing techniques in recent years — say the recognition strengthens their credibility in international markets and supports efforts to expand exports.
