Pakistan Defense Minister Warns Over Growing Kabul–New Delhi Ties

DID Press: Pakistan’s Defense Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, expressed concern over the depth and nature of the Taliban government’s relations with India. In an interview with Geo News, he said Islamabad is closely monitoring developments in Kabul–New Delhi interactions and will assess any rapprochement between the two countries within the framework of Pakistan’s national security.

Asif stressed that Afghanistan’s relations with regional countries should contribute to collective stability and security, rather than increase sensitivities or security concerns in neighboring states. He added that Pakistan expects the Taliban government to consider the regional and security implications of its foreign engagements.

Pakistani officials have repeatedly voiced suspicions over India’s role in Afghanistan in recent years—a stance Kabul has consistently rejected, emphasizing that its foreign relations are guided by national interests and regional cooperation principles.
