AAA Upgrades Fleet with New Engines From Turkey, Serbia

DID Press: Ariana Afghan Airlines (AAA) has acquired two new aircraft engines from Turkey and Serbia as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Afghanistan’s aviation sector.

According to the company, the engines — valued at a total of USD 4.7 million — were delivered to Kabul via cargo flight and are intended to improve the performance and reliability of the carrier’s aircraft.

Ariana said the new engines will be installed on its Boeing 737 and Airbus A310 aircraft, a move aimed at boosting flight capacity and supporting both domestic and international operations.

Aviation experts, however, note that despite the upgrade, Ariana’s largely aging fleet remains technically constrained and is unlikely to sustain long-haul international routes effectively. They add that operational limits will persist due to aircraft age and wear, even with improved engines.

Ariana officials maintain that, despite challenges, the airline hopes the investments will enhance service quality and expand travel options for passengers inside and outside the country.
