DID Press: Local sources in Yemen reported widespread tensions in Aden, alongside claims of a breakdown within the Southern Transitional Council (STC).
According to these claims, Abdulrahman Abu Zara’a al-Muharrami, a southern military leader and deputy head of the STC, has taken control of government institutions in Aden in what has been described as a “quasi-coup,” and has aligned himself with the Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council.
The reports further allege that areas in southern Yemen previously controlled by the coalition are now under the authority of the internationally recognized government.
