DID Press: Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey sharply rejected President Donald Trump’s and federal officials’ account of the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Reni Nicole Good by an ICE officer, calling their narrative “nonsense” and saying released videos do not support claims of “self-defense.”

The incident has sparked protests and demands for ICE personnel to leave the city. Frey described the federal portrayal of the event as “completely false” and “distorted,” criticizing officers for “fanning chaos” and telling them, “Get out of Minneapolis.”
The Minneapolis City Council also issued a statement calling for the immediate withdrawal of ICE agents. Thousands gathered at the shooting site, lighting candles to honor the victim, while activist groups nationwide urged protests in multiple cities.
In contrast, US Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen defended the officers, claiming they were assisting a vehicle stuck in snow and were surrounded by “rioters.” She said Good allegedly blocked the officers’ path and attempted to strike one with her vehicle, labeling the act as “domestic terrorism.” The FBI and state authorities have launched independent investigations.
Videos verified by Reuters raise serious doubts about the federal account. One clip shows Good’s red car initially yielding for another vehicle, then moving backward and to the right as ICE officers approach. An officer fires three shots at the vehicle, but it is unclear if the car made contact. The car then accelerates and strikes parked vehicles.
