Afghanistan shipped 20kg of raw gold to Uzbekistan for processing

DID Press: Afghanistan sent 20kg of raw gold, valued at approximately $2.9 million, to Uzbekistan for industrial processing, in a move aimed at developing the jewelry industry, increasing value-added production, and strengthening regional industrial cooperation.

Uzbek media reported that the gold shipment is being processed by Termiz Gold Production, a jewelry manufacturer based in the free economic zone of the Termiz International Trade Centre in Surkhandarya region.

Officials said the project is part of joint efforts to expand regional industrial capacity and is expected to boost the jewelry sector, increase exports and produce higher value-added products.

Economists and officials also said the cooperation could improve the investment climate, support industrial development and strengthen economic ties between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.

Sending raw gold abroad for processing reflects Afghanistan’s focus on leveraging regional industrial infrastructure and pursuing more practical economic partnerships in Central Asia.
