UN Highlights Iran’s Constructive Role in Afghanistan Stability
DID Press: UN underscored Iran’s regional role in supporting stability in Afghanistan, following a meeting between UN Deputy Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo and Alireza Beikdeli, Chargé d’Affaires at the Iranian Embassy in Kabul.

During the discussions, the two sides reviewed UNAMA’s mission activities and emphasized Iran’s constructive contribution to the UN’s efforts in promoting security, stability, and humanitarian improvement in Afghanistan. They also exchanged views on the importance of sustained regional and international cooperation to address the country’s ongoing challenges.
DiCarlo, leading a UN delegation in Kabul, has also met with acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani. According to the Afghan acting government, she commended positive progress in areas such as the management of returning refugees, transparency in humanitarian aid distribution, and initiatives in drug prevention and rehabilitation.
