Herat Governor, Iranian Officials Stress Expanding Cross-Border Economic cooperation
DID Press: Taliban-appointed governor of Herat visited the Dogharoun–Taybad border crossing, where he emphasized the need to expand economic cooperation and resolve customs-related challenges between Iran and Afghanistan.

Ahmad Islam Jar, the Taliban governor of Herat, traveled to the Dogharoun–Taybad border crossing and met with officials from Iran’s Razavi Khorasan province, calling for closer economic ties and improved customs coordination between the two neighboring countries.
During the visit, the Herat governor was welcomed by Gholamhossein Mozaffari, Governor of Razavi Khorasan, Hossein Jamshidi, Governor of Taybad, and other local officials. He was briefed on customs-related issues and operational challenges at both the Dogharoun and Islam Qala border crossings.
The visit also included a tour of the Dogharoun Industrial and Free Trade Zone, which plays a key role in facilitating trade and economic exchanges between Iran and Afghanistan due to its strategic border location.
Both sides reviewed existing challenges and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic and trade cooperation, describing it as an important step toward reinforcing regional ties between Iran and Afghanistan.
