Afghans Top Asylum Seekers in France as 2025 Applications Surge

DID Press: Tens of thousands of Afghans continue to seek safety and a better future abroad, and recent statistics from France confirm this trend.

According to the latest figures from the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons (OFPRA), Afghan nationals submitted 13,800 asylum applications in 2025, making them the largest group of applicants in the country.

The acceptance rate for Afghan applicants was 78.8 percent, highlighting the severe deterioration of living conditions and ongoing violations of fundamental rights in Afghanistan.

This data underscores the persistent challenges faced by Afghans at home and the continued pressure on European asylum systems as migration flows remain high.
