ISIS Claims Responsibility for Deadly Shiite Mosque Blast in Islamabad

DID Press: ISIS’s Pakistan branch claimed responsibility for the deadly suicide bombing at a Shiite mosque in Pakistan’s capital.

In a statement, ISIS–Pakistan released an image of the attacker, identifying him as “Saifullah Ansari,” and said he carried out the suicide operation during Friday prayers at a Shiite mosque in Islamabad.

The attack, which occurred as worshippers were gathered for Friday prayers, resulted in numerous casualties, with many people killed or injured.

Pakistani security authorities have strongly condemned the terrorist attack and announced the launch of extensive investigations to identify and dismantle networks linked to the perpetrators. No official casualty figures have yet been released.
