Turkey Continues Detention, Deportation of Afghan Refugees
DID Press: Turkish police continued their crackdown on illegal migrants by arresting dozens of Afghan refugees in two provinces of the country, transferring them to foreign nationals’ detention centers.

Amid Turkey’s increasing immigration policies, police forces in the country have detained additional Afghan refugees in various provinces and transferred them to deportation centers.
Turkish media reported that police in Sakarya province identified 19 Afghan refugees without legal residency documents during an operation, and after completing administrative procedures, deported them from the country.
Similarly, in Bingöl province, 12 other Afghan refugees were arrested in an operation related to human trafficking and transferred to foreign nationals’ detention centers for residency status review.
According to reports from Afghan and international media outlets, Turkey has lately been intensifying its crackdown on illegal migrants, conducting extensive security operations throughout the country.
While some sources report the detention of over 30,000 Afghan refugees during this period, these numbers have not yet been officially confirmed by Turkey’s immigration department or the Ministry of Interior.
