ICRC Assisted Over 24,000 Afghan Quake Victims in 2025

DID Press: International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Afghanistan said that more than 24,000 people affected by recent earthquakes have received emergency medical care and essential assistance in 2025.

In a statement posted Thursday on X, the organization said its support included urgent medical treatment, the provision of medicines and medical supplies, and life-saving assistance aimed at helping survivors recover and regain basic security.

The ICRC emphasized that rapid response and sustained presence during crises are critical to saving lives and addressing the immediate needs of affected communities.

Recent deadly earthquakes in Afghanistan have caused widespread casualties, with thousands reported killed. Large sections of infrastructure — including homes, schools and health facilities — have been destroyed or severely damaged.

Thousands of families remain displaced, facing harsh conditions and shortages of food, clean water and adequate shelter. Reports indicate that children, the elderly and those with pre-existing medical conditions are particularly vulnerable, underscoring the need for continued humanitarian support.
