Afghan Experts Trained in Drug Prevention and Treatment in Indonesia
DID Press: UN Office on Drugs and Crime conducted a specialized training program on drug prevention and treatment for Afghan experts in Jakarta.

The course, part of international efforts to support Afghanistan’s health system, focused on evidence-based approaches to addiction prevention, treatment, social rehabilitation, and reintegration of patients into society.
Participants exchanged knowledge with Indonesian counterparts on successful health-centered treatment models, community-based approaches, management of treatment centers, and harm reduction strategies.
The program emphasized providing humane, standardized, and accessible services for both men and women suffering from substance use disorders. Afghan specialists also discussed challenges in delivering addiction services in Afghanistan and explored practical solutions to improve access to care.
Officials from the UN Office on Drugs and Crime expressed hope that the training would strengthen Afghan technical capacities, enhance treatment infrastructure, and raise service standards for addiction treatment across the country.
