DID Press: Steve Witkoff, US Envoy for talks with Iran, said US president was “surprised” that Iranians have not capitulated under pressure. Witkoff said he met Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s former monarch, at Trump’s direction.

According to Witkoff, Pahlavi is “interested in governance,” but the meeting focused primarily on Trump’s policy framework rather than Pahlavi’s own political agenda.
Witkoff further claimed that despite Iran’s insistence that its nuclear program is “peaceful,” enrichment levels exceed civilian requirements. He asserted that Iran could be as little as one week away from obtaining sufficient material for an industrial-grade nuclear device—an assessment that independent sources have not publicly corroborated.
