Former Norwegian PM Hospitalized After Apparent Suicide Attempt Amid Epstein Files

DID Press: Thorbjørn Jagland, a former prime minister of Norway, has been hospitalized after an apparent suicide attempt as authorities launched a formal investigation into alleged financial corruption linked to disclosures in the Jeffrey Epstein Files, Norwegian media reported.

The incident occurred as Norwegian police opened a corruption inquiry and searched Jagland’s properties. Sources said he is currently under medical supervision.

Norway’s economic crimes unit, Økokrim, confirmed that Jagland is being questioned on suspicion of “serious corruption.” Investigators seized multiple boxes of documents during a search of his residence in Oslo. The action followed the lifting of his diplomatic immunity by the Council of Europe at the request of Norwegian judicial authorities.

According to documents released by the United States Department of Justice, Jagland and members of his family stayed at Epstein’s properties between 2011 and 2018, with travel expenses reportedly covered by Epstein. The records cite Epstein referring to Jagland as a “big Nobel figure.”

Jagland served as Norway’s prime minister from 1996 to 1997 and later chaired the Norwegian Nobel Committee. He also previously served as secretary general of the Council of Europe.
