53% Surge in Trade Between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan
DID Press: Trade between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan has increased by 53 percent in 2025, reaching $1.5 billion. According to a report by The Diplomat, the Uzbek government aims to raise bilateral trade to $5 billion in the next phase, while implementation of the preferential trade agreement between the two countries has accelerated.

Despite the fact that Afghanistan’s current government has not yet been formally recognized by Tashkent, economic cooperation between the two sides continues to expand. Uzbek companies have begun exploring oil reserves and mineral resources in northern Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Taliban administration also announced that Afghanistan’s trade with Central Asian countries as a whole has grown in 2025, with imports increasing by 43 percent and exports rising by 77 percent.
