Trump Fires Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem
DID Press: Donald Trump on Thursday fired Kristi Noem from her position as head of the US Department of Homeland Security, the agency responsible for implementing the administration’s broad immigration crackdown.

According to reports, Trump was dissatisfied with Noem’s testimony during a Senate hearing earlier this week, where she stated that the president had approved a $220 million advertising campaign by the department in which she featured prominently.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump announced that Markwayne Mullin, a Republican senator from Oklahoma, will assume leadership of the department starting March 31.
Trump said the 54-year-old Noem would instead serve as his special envoy for a new security initiative in the Western Hemisphere, which he described as the “Continental Shield of America.”
He added that Noem “served us well and achieved numerous and significant accomplishments, especially at the border.”
Mullin’s nomination will require confirmation by the United States Senate, where Republicans currently hold a majority.
The Republican president had pledged during his election campaign to deport millions of undocumented migrants from the United States, with the Department of Homeland Security playing a central role in implementing that policy.
