Pakistan-Taliban Border Clashes Intensify Amid Conflicting Claims

DID Press: Pakistan Army announced that, as part of its ongoing “Ghadhab Lil-Haq” operation, it targeted Taliban positions and the so-called “Fitna al-Khawarij” along the Kurram region border strip. Pakistani security sources reported that several checkpoints and Taliban encampments were destroyed by heavy artillery fire, and the operation will continue until “objectives are fully achieved.” The central government claimed that over 400 Taliban fighters from both Afghanistan and Pakistan have been killed in the operation so far.

In response, the Taliban denied these claims, asserting that the recent clashes along the Durand Line have been “in their favor” and that their forces have made “significant battlefield advances.” Taliban officials further claimed that Pakistani forces have “retreated in some sectors” and suffered heavy losses—claims that remain independently unverified.

Previously, Pakistan had stated that 41 Taliban and allied positions in Balochistan province were targeted as part of the same operation. The intensifying exchanges of fire and conflicting narratives from both sides have renewed concerns about escalating border tensions.
