Indian Lawmaker Questions Modi Govt: “Is Trump Telling Us Where to Buy Oil?”

DID Press: Sayed Nasir Hussain, a member of India’s National Congress Party, has called for a parliamentary debate on the Middle East crisis and its potential impact on India’s energy security.

Hussain warned that instability in the region could have serious consequences for the energy market and urged Parliament to examine India’s foreign policy, energy crisis preparedness, and the protection of Indian citizens abroad.

Criticizing the Modi government, Hussain remarked, “It seems the U.S. president has become our own leader, telling us where to buy oil. Why has this situation arisen?”

He stressed that issuing a government statement is insufficient, as lawmakers cannot properly question or hold the government accountable. Hussain emphasized that Parliament must have the opportunity to scrutinize policies and raise questions on critical foreign policy and energy issues.

Concluding his remarks, Hussain asked why the government has avoided parliamentary discussion on these matters, insisting that transparency and accountability are essential for India’s energy and foreign policy decisions.
