Hegseth: War with Iran Not Simple, No Desire for Prolonged Conflict
DID Press: US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated that Washington has learned from past conflicts and would pursue a different approach if faced with Iran.

In an interview with CBS News, Hegseth said, “In Afghanistan and Iraq, many mistakes were made, leading to political and military setbacks and enormous costs for the United States.”
He added, “Experience shows that confronting Iran—a country with strong regional and defensive capabilities—is far from simple. The US does not intend to repeat the path of prolonged, costly wars.”
Analysts view Hegseth’s remarks as a clear indication of Iran’s strategic deterrence and regional influence. The statements also suggest a potential shift in US policy toward cautious, diplomatic measures rather than direct military action against Iran.
