Iran, Japan FMs Discuss Regional Fallout from US-Israel Strikes

DID Press: Sayed Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s FM, held a phone conversation with Toshimitsu Motegi, Japan’s FM, regarding the regional and global consequences of recent US and Israeli military actions against Iran.

According to Iran’s foreign ministry, Araqchi stressed the importance of friendly relations with neighboring countries, while emphasizing that Iran cannot allow the U.S. to use regional military bases to launch attacks against its territory.

He clarified that Iran’s defensive measures are not directed at neighboring states but target the “source and origin of aggression”, reaffirming Tehran’s resolve to stand firm against what it calls U.S. and Israeli military aggression.

In response, Motegi expressed condolences to the Iranian people and voiced concern over the risk of escalating conflict. He highlighted the need for diplomatic engagement and dialogue to prevent further tensions and restore stability in the region.

The call comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East, with multiple countries calling for de-escalation and regional containment of the crisis.
