China, Pakistan Hold Talks to Reduce Tensions with Taliban
DID Press: China’s special envoy for Afghanistan met with Pakistani officials to stress the need to de-escalate conflicts, resume negotiations, and strengthen the peace process in Afghanistan.

Yu Xiaoyong, China’s special envoy, met with Amina Baloch, Pakistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, and Muhammad Sadiq, Islamabad’s special representative on Afghanistan, to discuss ways to reduce border tensions and Taliban-related clashes.
The discussions highlighted the importance of preventing escalation in border areas, returning parties to the negotiating table, and reinforcing the peace process. Counterterrorism and border security were also key topics.
These talks are part of China’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to mediate between the Taliban and neighboring countries. Yu Xiaoyong had previously met with Amir Khan Muttaqi, Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister, to discuss halting conflicts and easing tensions.
Chinese and Pakistani officials emphasized the importance of regional and international cooperation to stabilize security and prevent humanitarian and military crises in Afghanistan. They also confirmed that future collaboration on counterterrorism and support for the peace process will continue.
