DID Press: Former CIA director David Petraeus says the United States was aware in advance of a planned Israeli attack on Iran and carried out its own strike to weaken Tehran’s defensive capabilities.
According to Petraeus, Washington launched an attack aimed at degrading Iran’s air defense and response capacity so that, if Israel proceeded with its operation, Tehran would be unable to mount an effective retaliation.
The remarks amount to a fresh disclosure about the coordination surrounding potential military action against Iran.
Similar comments had previously been made by Marco Rubio, who suggested that U.S. actions were linked to preparations for an Israeli strike. Rubio later attempted to soften or clarify his statements.
