Taliban PM Calls Defense of Afghanistan “Religious Duty” Amid Rising Tensions

DID Press: Mohammad Hassan Akhund, prime minister of the Taliban administration, said defending Afghanistan and its people is both a religious and moral obligation.

In an Eid al-Fitr message, Akhund condemned recent Pakistani strikes on Afghan territory while emphasizing that the Taliban seeks to resolve disputes through dialogue and engagement.

He stated that while the group remains committed to peace and negotiation, the defense of national sovereignty is a “red line.”

Akhund added that protecting the country’s people and territory is not only a national necessity but also a religious and ethical duty for all Taliban members.
