DID Press: Officials in Cuba announced preparedness for a potential military confrontation with the United States following escalating rhetoric from President Donald Trump regarding control over the island nation.

Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernandez stated that while Havana considers a direct military conflict unlikely, the country is maintaining readiness for any possible scenario. Speaking on the program Meet the Press aired by NBC News, he emphasized that Cuba has historically prepared for nationwide mobilization in the face of external aggression.
The remarks come amid rising tensions between Havana and Washington following the imposition of an oil embargo by the Trump administration, a move that has deepened Cuba’s ongoing economic crisis. Trump recently intensified his rhetoric, stating that he expects the “honor” of bringing Cuba under U.S. control.
Reports also suggest that the U.S. administration is seeking to remove Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel from power, further heightening diplomatic friction between the two countries.
Despite continued dialogue, statements from officials on both sides indicate that political and military tensions remain elevated, raising concerns about the potential escalation of a broader crisis between Washington and Havana.
