Pakistan Ranked World’s Most Polluted Country in 2025

DID Press: The annual IQAir report reveals that Pakistan recorded the highest concentration of airborne particulate matter in 2025, earning the dubious distinction of being the most polluted country in the world.

Out of 143 countries analyzed, only 13 met global air quality standards, while 130 fell short. Following Pakistan, Bangladesh and Tajikistan ranked second and third, respectively.

The report also shows that all 25 of the world’s most polluted cities are located in India, Pakistan, and China. India’s Loni topped the list as the most polluted city globally, with Khotan in China in second place.

Environmental experts warn that this level of pollution poses serious health risks, including respiratory, cardiovascular, and heart-related diseases. In addition, widespread wildfires in Canada have affected air quality in the U.S. and Europe.

Meanwhile, countries such as Australia, Iceland, Estonia, and Panama have maintained clean air, with only 14% of global cities meeting the required standards.
