DID Press: Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan hosted the formation of a Joint Business Council between Uzbekistan and the Taliban, comprising 32 members representing both Uzbekistan’s and Afghanistan’s business communities.

In the council’s inaugural meeting on Thursday, participants emphasized expanding industrial and economic cooperation, facilitating direct trade, and launching new joint projects. One of the key objectives is to boost bilateral trade to $5 billion in the short term.
Dauron Vahabov, head of Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce, said the council will strengthen direct dialogue among entrepreneurs, promote new partnerships, and stimulate investment activities. The council will also support joint projects in industry, trade, and logistics, serving as a permanent platform to sustain and expand economic ties between the two countries.
