Afghanistan–Uzbekistan Sign $614.8M Trade Deals to Boost Regional Economy
DID Press: Officials from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have signed a series of cooperation agreements worth $614.8 million during a joint business forum known as the “Tawasul Conference,” according to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan.

The memorandums of understanding span multiple sectors of trade and production, aiming to expand economic cooperation, strengthen domestic manufacturing capacity, and increase Afghan exports. Authorities stated that the agreements cover a wide range of commercial activities, including:
- Establishing poultry production facilities inside Afghanistan
- Cooperation in the import and export of cement and coal
- Expanding trade in beans, mung beans, and vegetables
- Exporting dried fruits
- Importing cooking oil, petroleum products, bitumen, copper, and food supplies
- Exporting non-alcoholic beverages
- Collaboration in sports services
- Investment in egg production farms
According to officials, these agreements form part of broader efforts to deepen regional economic ties and create new opportunities for the private sector. They emphasized that successful implementation could lead to higher employment, stronger export performance, reduced reliance on imports, and more sustainable economic cooperation between Kabul and Tashkent.
