Heavy Rains Trigger Floods in Western, Northern Afghanistan

DID Press: Intense rainfall has caused floods in Herat and Samangan provinces, resulting in two fatalities and significant damage to residents.

Local sources in Herat report that flash floods have swept through several areas, claiming two lives. The floods have also destroyed homes, damaged roads, and wiped out portions of residents’ property. Many families now face severe hardships and are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.

In Samangan, floods have inundated parts of the provincial center and districts, causing substantial damage. Several homes have been destroyed, and agricultural lands have been affected, threatening local livelihoods.

Local authorities in both provinces stated that assessment teams have been dispatched to affected areas to evaluate the damage and address the immediate needs of victims. Residents are urging aid organizations and responsible authorities to respond promptly to their critical situation.
