Alarming Rise in Traffic Fatalities in Badakhshan

DID Press: The spokesperson for Badakhshan Police Command reported that a total of 122 traffic accidents were recorded in the province during the year (2025–2026).

Ehsanullah Kamgar stated that these incidents resulted in the deaths of 136 people—including women, men, and children—and left 175 others injured.

Kamgar cited poor road conditions, lack of proper safety standards on transport routes, and the unprofessional conduct of some drivers as the main causes of these deadly accidents. He emphasized that improving road infrastructure and enhancing drivers’ skills could play a significant role in reducing fatalities.

These figures highlight a worrying upward trend in traffic accidents in Badakhshan and underscore the urgent need for responsible authorities to implement serious measures to prevent recurrence.
