DID Press: Indonesia condemned attacks by Israel following the killing of three of its peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon and called for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council to address the incident.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday (March 31) that repeated deadly attacks against its peacekeepers are “completely unacceptable.” A statement posted on the ministry’s social media stressed that the incident cannot be treated as isolated, but reflects the rapidly deteriorating security situation in southern Lebanon, where Israeli military operations have endangered the lives of UN peacekeepers.
Retno Marsudi, Indonesia’s foreign minister, spoke on Monday by phone with António Guterres, requesting an emergency session of the UN Security Council.
In the conversation, she emphasized: “The security and safety of UN peacekeepers is non-negotiable and must be guaranteed under all circumstances.”
According to reports, two Indonesian peacekeepers were killed on Monday when a bomb targeted their vehicle in southern Lebanon. This attack occurred just one day after another Indonesian peacekeeper was killed on Sunday.
