DID Press: United Nations Security Council strongly condemned recent Israeli attacks on peacekeepers in Lebanon, which took place in late March and resulted in the deaths of three Indonesian personnel serving with UNIFIL.
In an official statement, the council said: “Members of the Security Council express their deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and to Indonesia.”
According to the report, five others were also injured in the attacks.
The statement highlighted a series of incidents targeting UNIFIL positions, noting that the peacekeepers “have been affected amid ongoing hostilities along the Blue Line.”
In conclusion, the council reaffirmed its full support for UNIFIL and called on all parties to ensure the safety and freedom of movement of personnel and facilities of the mission in accordance with international law.
