214 Killed and Injured in Afghanistan Floods as Iran Expresses Condolences
DID Press: Following widespread flooding in several provinces of Afghanistan, the number of victims has reached at least 77 dead and 137 injured. The Embassy of Iran in Kabul issued a statement expressing condolences over the deaths and injuries of Afghan citizens and conveyed sympathy to the families of the victims and those affected by the disaster.

This natural disaster, which continued from March 26 to April 4, inflicted heavy losses on residents of the affected areas.
According to information from the National Disaster Management Authority of Afghanistan, the floods completely or partially destroyed more than 3,400 homes and devastated thousands of acres of agricultural land. Reports also indicate that four individuals remain missing, and search efforts to locate them are ongoing.
Officials stated that the floods affected multiple provinces across the country and, in addition to causing casualties, blocked key transportation routes. This situation has complicated relief delivery and rescue operations in several remote regions.
Meanwhile, Zabihullah Mujahid previously announced that the disaster also resulted in the destruction of more than 3,000 acres of farmland and the loss of over 1,000 head of livestock, further increasing economic pressure on rural households.
Afghanistan is considered one of the countries highly vulnerable to natural disasters, particularly sudden flooding. Experts note that weak infrastructure, widespread poverty, and the absence of effective water management systems have intensified the damage caused by seasonal rainfall. Aid organizations have also warned that Climate Change is increasing both the frequency and severity of such disasters in the country.
