Afghanistan-Uzbekistan Sign $67M Agreements, Set $500M Pharmaceutical Trade Goal

DID Press: A delegation from Afghanistan, led by Zelgay Aryan Azimi, visited Fergana and signed preliminary agreements worth a total of $67 million with local traders and industrialists. The visit is seen as a significant step in strengthening economic and trade ties between the two countries.

During the trip, the Afghan delegation toured several major industrial and manufacturing complexes, including the Babushbek Manufacturing and Trading Complex, active in clothing, knitted garments, trade, and logistics. Delegates inspected production units, stores, and warehouses, exploring cooperation opportunities and export capacities.

B2B meetings between Afghan and Uzbek traders led to preliminary agreements aimed at expanding trade and investment collaboration.

The delegation also visited the BNBM Central Asia, a $30 million modern building materials manufacturer with an annual production capacity of 30 million square meters of gypsum boards and 4 million square meters of decorative panels.

Additionally, they inspected the joint venture Young Shin, a $90 million tile producer, receiving detailed information on production and export capabilities. Other visits included Mollis Clothing, producing apparel for men, women, and children, and Great Kokand, specializing in modern packaging and textile production.

Delegates praised the role of projects in the Kokand Free Economic Zone in creating jobs, reducing imports, and boosting exports, noting favorable conditions for foreign investors and the high quality of locally produced goods.

Separately, Abdullah Azizov visited Kabul and met with Nuraldin Azizi. Both parties emphasized the high quality and competitiveness of Uzbek pharmaceutical products and set a bilateral trade target of $500 million in the pharmaceutical sector.
